Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome back to what promises to be another phenomenal school year! I hope that you and your children are enjoying your last weeks of summer before returning to school. To say that you have been missed at CRE is an understatement as I am eager to hear all about your summer adventures.

It is no secret that Coral Reef Elementary is considered to be among the top elementary schools in the district and the state as we are continuously being recognized for educational excellence. I am excited to inform you that the Florida State Board of Education has designated CRE as a School of Excellence for the 2017-2018 academic year. And just today we received notification that we earned the “Silver” STEM School Designation!!! In attendance, we ranked first among 162 elementary schools in the district for the fourth grading period. Furthermore, our school has also been designated as a “National PTA School of Excellence”!!! All of this does not occur by chance, but rather it is the result of dedicated staff members and motivated students and committed parents. Together we are unstoppable, and this is evident as for the “seventeenth” year in a row, CRE has earned an “A” on the Florida Department of Education School Grading Scale. Congratulations on being a part of all these incredible achievements!!!

At school, the teachers who attended the Synergy Symposium have been planning and are eager to share what they learned regarding current trends in curriculum and technology. In an effort to enhance our technology at school, our PTA purchased 20 computers to help us with this endeavor. PTA has also been very busy attending the National PTA Conference and are eager to implement some of the programs shared with them. We are very fortunate to have such a dynamic PTA and I hope that you will consider being a member of this amazing organization.

As a reminder, all students must be in uniform on the first day of school which includes the patch with the school logo. This year we will continue with our closed campus. Students’ first day back is Monday, August 20, 2018. In order to ensure a smooth and orderly first day of school, we have scheduled our annual “Meet-and-Greet” session on Friday, August 17th beginning at 12:00 noon. This will enable parents and students to familiarize themselves with our school, assigned homeroom teacher and classmates.

Meet & Greet Sessions
Grades Pre-K, K & 1: 12:00 – 1:00 pm
Grades 2 & 3: 1:00 – 1:50 pm
Grades 4 – 5: 2:00 – 2:45 pm

Sincerely,
